J.R. Richards has made a lasting mark on the landscape of popular music, after 13 years as the singer/songwriter for the enduring alt-rock band Dishwalla. During that time, Richards and his bandmates released five definitive records, beginning with the Platinum-selling 'Pet Your Friends.' They also had the chart-topping single 'Counting Blue Cars' that won the Billboard award for ‘Rock Song of the Year,’ developed a growing network of faithful fans and performed around the world. But Dishwalla eventually went on hiatus, and now Richards is eager to share his music in a new way--with the release of his solo debut album 'A Beautiful End.'
'A Beautiful End' is a true reflection of the artist in that both are the result of rare talent and perserverance. Richards explains: "I moved four times during the making of this album and went from one end of the U.S. to the other. Twice. It seemed crazy sometimes to be working in so many environments. But whenever creativity struck, I had to find or create a place to work in. Because of that, I met some really cool people along the way. When you read the credits, notice how many studios I list as working in. Too many," he says, laughing.
'A Beautiful End' is intensely personal music. This collection of songs radiates a confidence and maturity that fans are certain to embrace. Recorded at the iconic former A&M Studios (now known as Jim Henson Studios), Richards was joined by a who's who of musicians, including legendary drummer Kenny Aronoff, lead guitarist Rusty Anderson (Paul McCartney), bass player Chris Chaney (Jane's Addiction), Phil X (Powder) and renowned engineer Steve Churchyard (INXS). The project was mixed by Mike Ross at producer Sylvia Massy's Radiostar Studios in Weed, California.

Richards continues to express himself in different ways by composing scores for indie film projects. These include the Ami Mann directed film "Morning," which also featured him in a central role opposite Annabeth Gish and Tess Harper. He has also guest-starred on several television series, including "Charmed," and contributed singles to the soundtracks of blockbuster films and TV shows, including "American Pie," "The Banger Sisters," "Smallville," "NCIS," and "The Real OC."
